Balancing Act

“Why Not Go Out On A Limb…

…That’s Where The Fruit Is” according to Mark Twain, and, he may very well have the right idea. Another good quote from Sara at MumTurnedMom as our prompt for this week.

However as I’ve only just had my second session of physio to help with my vertigo, this brought the subject of balance to my mind, rather than ambition as I believe it was intended.

I just get a mental picture of me reaching just a twig too far to obtain that shiny apple and toppling to the floor!

So, as well as my MyTeam exercises I’ve been doing my vertigo homework exercises and therefore the word of the week I’m sharing with The Reading Residence really has to be balance! WOTW Balance

So, it may be late as the extra exercise also means extra vestibular migraine, but, here’s a poem for the week 🙂 You can find more poetry and prose over at Verily Victoria Vocalises.

Balancing Act

Stretching, on tiptoes,
Will I fall? Goodness knows!

Walking, on a tightrope,
No thanks, there’s no hope!

Climbing, flights of stairs,
That I used to run up in pairs!

Moving, at a slower pace,
Never far from a safe place!

Driving, mostly in daylight,
Night-time makes my tired eyes fight!

Reaching, my tether’s end,
Vertigo driving me round the bend!

    1. Thank you Kristina, I think it is but early days. I’m having to practice restraint and patience which don’t come easily!

  1. It must be so frustrating to have this physical challenge to overcome – I think so many of us take our bodies for granted. Good luck with the physic – I hope it starts to improve things soon x

    1. Thank you Sophie…I don’t think you realise how much you take for granted until things become difficult. I feel as though the physio is helping and that’s one step closer to it being so. 🙂 x

  2. Oh no, sorry to hear it’s been a difficult week. It is interesting how Sara’s prompt got you thinking, and that poem sums it all up so well. Here’s hoping next week is better x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  3. I love that #ThePrompt got you thinking about something personal like this, it’s always so interesting to see different interpretations. I love your poem and I do hope that the physio starts to help with your vertigo xx Thanks so much for linking to #ThePrompt x

    1. When I first read it a couple of weeks ago I hadn’t a clue where to go with it but 2 physio sessions later, and an unplanned fall on a dog walk, made it clear! I’m sure it will help, they’re a great team 🙂 x
