When I told the lovely boyfriend that brand new Lee Stafford hair straighteners were on their way to me for this review, he said, and I quote:
“What?! You’re going to try and straighten that unruly mop?!” Rude.
He hasn’t known me very long yet so hasn’t noticed the old hair straighteners I’ve owned for more years than I care to remember. He hasn’t seen many of the stages between poker straight and curly frizz that my locks have endured in the past in varying lengths and colours!
The poor boy probably doesn’t even believe that when I say I’m going to my sister-in-law’s salon to get my hair done, that’s where I’ve gone, because, by the time he sees it, it’s just not looking done anymore!
My hair just doesn’t hold a style well so it’s a constant battle with accessories and products to get it looking half decent enough to leave the house with and I feel like I’m forever faffing with it.
The Lee Stafford Academy hair straighteners came from Amazon and arrived the next day so I didn’t have to wait long to try these particular ones out 🙂
So has Mr Stafford come up with something to ease my woes? Here’s a little background:
The Lee Stafford Academy Straightener uses advanced technology with an ultra-fast heat up to provide excellent hair styling results. Heating up and ready to use in just 10 seconds, the nano silver titanium plates allow your hair to glide through with ease in one effortless flow giving you silky smooth straight hair. With an ionic function, The Straightener generates negative ions to make your hair frizz-free and manageable.
The sleek matte black finish also features grip points for a better grip while styling. The variable heat selection allows you to choose the best temperature for your hair type from 80°C to 230°C.
Includes heat protection guard to protect the plates during travel and storage.

I was very impressed on first opening the box. Beautifully styled packaging, as you’d expect, but, a brilliant power cord that is long enough for me to actually see my bedroom mirror when it’s plugged into the socket! Might not be much to you guys but guesswork really isn’t an option with my barnet!
I really like the temperature control feature and the little card enclosed that tells you how hot to go and also straight and curly hair advice.
My hair is naturally medium and wavy and therefore I need the straighteners between 170° and 200° for styling. I opted for 180° and the controls were easy to use. Straight as straight can be is quite harsh on me these days so the slightly softer look at this heat was better.
I also found a cool video on YouTube with a couple of curly-but-not-too-curly looks that I’m going to try when my hair’s a little longer again.
Like what you see so far? Want a set for yourself? No problem, I’m pleased to say you can win some right here with my competition!
Closing date for entries is 15th January 2017 and the competition is open to UK residents only as per Gleam terms & conditions.
Good luck everybody 🙂
