Life Goes On

So it’s time to say goodbye,
Goodbye to twenty sixteen,
Quite the rollercoaster,
A hell of a year it’s been.
But, life goes on.

I’ve felt so much sadness,
That’s been so very hard to bear;
But there’s also been gladness,
I’ve received so much love and care.
So, life goes on.

How I mourn for Stella,
Each and every single day,
Though I know that over Rainbow Bridge,
She enjoys pain-free play.
And, life goes on.

A kind man came into my life,
Fills me with hope and love,
Can’t help but think fate played a part,
A gift from high above.
Our life goes on.

But listening to Last Christmas.
Just won’t ever be the same,
As dear George joined a list of stars,
Cruelly taken from the frame.
Still, life goes on.

A year of change all over,
All over lands and seas,
Sometimes we thought twenty sixteen,
Would bring us to our knees.
This life goes on.

For me a whole new chapter,
Is waiting to unfurl;
Onwards on the journey,
For this impatient, quirky girl.
My life goes on.

  1. Beautifully written Lisa. This poem gave me goosebumps – and a few tears. This has summed up pretty much everything about the past year and how life definitely does go on. Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought x

  2. So sorry to hear that Stella made her way over the Rainbow Bridge last year. I always loved seeing the photos of her on My Sunday Photo. Sending virtual hugs your way and hope that 2017 will be a good year for you. Life does indeed go on, although it seems hard at times that it does so x #Prose4T
