Christmas heart

Goodbye 2016 goodbye 2016

David Bowie said goodbye to Fame,
Paul Daniels left the magic game.

Terry Wogan had ruled the airwaves,
Like Jimmy Young he played our faves.

The Two Ronnies are re-united,
And George Martin, also knighted.

Fave TV stars: Hilda, Manuel,
R2D2, Leia: gone as well.

Victoria Wood really made me giggle,
Prince, at times, was just a squiggle.

Quo’s Rick Parfitt, and, Pete Burns.
Rocking and spinning as the world turns.

Muhammad Ali stung just like a bee,
Mrs Merton, was just so funny.

Alan Rickman, gone from stage door,
As is Gene Wilder, and, too many more.

George Michael always had my heart,
But Last Christmas we had to part.

So many old stars that we admire and love,
So many new stars up in Heaven above.

Prose for Thought

  1. This is a beautiful tribute to all the stars we lost last year. I wrote one back it in April and it was amazing how many we had already lost at that time. I love how you have constructed this – your poetry at it’s best. Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought x

  2. What a line up of amazing talent and personalities! I will particularly miss Victoria Wood who was a comic genius and George Michael whose music was definitely the soundtrack to my teenage years – such an amazing song writer! A great ode to the these brilliant people. #prose4T
