The Prompt: Pride

You’re growing up too fast,
My heart just bursts with pride,
Not yet two, my favourite boy,
Your brightness shines so far and wide.

Walking and talking; no big deal,
Words and numbers too,
Remembering the way to Grandad’s house,
I’m so very proud of you.

Colours are easy peasy,
And your favourite is green,
Cars and planes and tractors,
Are all announced when seen.

In Chuggington and Sodor,
You know all the trains by name,
Recognition is your forte,
Brilliance is your aim.

Outdoors means adventure,
There’s so much to explore,
Whatever the weather,
Shoes on at the door.

You’ve an appetite for learning,
Discovering land and sky,
I couldn’t love you more, sweet thing,
Apple of my eye. pride Pride

Prose for Thought

  1. Ah, this is so lovely Lisa 🙂 What a gorgeous little boy, growing up so fast! Your love and pride are clear in your words. Thank you so much for sharing with #ThePrompt (and apologies for being so late commenting, one of those weeks) xx

  2. My son was a huge Thomas fan too. I look back at that time fondly – when he used to be so engrossed in driving them around the tracks! Your poem is a lovely ode to you son now and something to look back on when he’s older. We’ve still got all our Thomas trains and tracks, I’m kinda saving them for *grand kids hopefully! #prose 4T
